Youth

Presbyterian logoSundays

Youth are invited to Sunday School in the LOFT!  During the year, youth study a variety of topics using the curriculum from The Thoughtful Christian.  Youth are invited to help with worship by leading the responsive psalm, serving as liturgists and singing with the choir.  Many youth share instrumental music with the congregation.  Opportunities exist for youth to form small vocal or instrumental ensembles.  Many youth play in our Handbell Choir.

Wednesdays

Youth are welcome to have supper at the Sunrise Deli which opens at 5:30 on Wednesday evenings.  Youth, adults and children share a meal together before the evening activities begin.  Youth Fellowship begins at 6:00.  There are groups for Middle School and High School Youth. We use topical studies from the Thoughtful Christian.  Youth may discuss such topics as bullying, peer pressure, or food.  Youth participate in mission projects throughout the year.  Sometimes the youth have movie night in our theater.  The youth send representatives to the Presbytery of Northern Kansas Youth Council which helps to plan events and youth rallies.

Summer

Youth participate alongside adults in our annual Sunrise Mission Trip.  This year the group went to Ferncliff Camp in Arkansas to help make disaster kits.  Youth also may go on mission trips with the Presbytery of Northern Kansas.  Many participate in summer camping through Heartland Presbyterian Center camping.  Every three years our youth have the opportunity to attend PCUSA Triennium for youth.
